RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide technical, infrastructure and engineering support for the SAS Storage Products and
Services, such as Managed Tape Backup, Managed Enterprise Storage and High Availability.
Interface with customers, vendors and other departments to develop formal project plans
for engineering projects, assuming a lead role in these implementations to ensure
successful project completion. Provide continuous improvement to efficiency, productivity
and customer satisfaction. Provide support to regional data centers regarding hardware
configuration, operations and maintenance. Develop, test and document Standard Operating
Procedures for use by the regional data centers. Participate in the research, design and
testing of new storage services using new and existing vendor technologies. Provide
mentoring and input to the Operations Analyst and Technical Analyst staff. Must be able to
travel a minimum of 15% as business may require. On-call 24X7.
SKILLS:
Bachelor's Degree in MIS, Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of 7 years hardware, software and telecommunications experience, with 3 years
Storage expertise. Advanced knowledge in leading operating systems software (OS/390, z/OS,
VM, VSE, UNIX, Linux and Windows) highly preferred. Advanced Knowledge of TCP/IP
networking preferred. Understanding of System Capacity and Performance Tuning preferred.
Strong knowledge of Large Scale Processors, Enterprise DASD and TAPE equipment and
Coupling Facility technology. Advanced knowledge in the management of disk storage systems
(EMC/SRDF/TimeFinder, IBM, HDS). Strong knowledge of Operations Monitoring, automation
tools and channel extension technology. Strong knowledge in XRC, HXRC, SRDF. Candidate
must have strong and effective interpersonal and communication skills. Candidate must be
proactive in managing problem resolution and have excellent debugging skills. Must be able
to learn quickly in a highly technical fast paced environment.
